Audits addressing Climate Change Considerations based on the Amendments to ISO Management System Standards

Dear our valued customers,
As previously announced (Please refer to the link below), the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) issued the amendments on climate change considerations for various Management System standards on February 23rd, 2024.
Further to this announcement, we would like to provide additional information on how and when we will start addressing this issue in our audits as follows:
1. Intention of the amendments and JQA's audit approach
Firstly, please understand that these amendments do not intend to change the existing interpretation of clause 4.1 and 4.2 of the management system standards.
Regardless of these amendments, these clauses have required the certified organizations to determine all external and internal issues relevant to their purpose and strategic direction that would affect their ability to achieve the intended result(s) of their management systems. These amendments aim to clearly identify climate change considerations as an element of the external and internal issues that organizations shall determine.
In this regard, we request you to ensure identifying and clarifying activities relating to the climate change considerations that have already been implemented in your organization, prior
to the audit. During the audit, we will check following points:
Are the issues related to climate change considered in your management system?
Are actions related to those climate change issues incorporated into your management system?
2. When will JQA start addressing this issue in audits?
We will begin conducting audits reflecting these amendments from October 1st, 2024.
